Learn Hebrew!
ΧΦ΄ΧΧΦΈΧ [eelan]🌳
NOUN: fruit tree EXPLANATION: The word 'eelan' in Hebrew is quite unique in that there is no one word in English for 'fruit tree'. It is a meaningful testament to the Jewish people's love and deeply-felt connection to the very earth of Israel and for all the beauty that God causes to sprout forth from her soil.

Eretz Yisrael is described many times throughout the Bible as a land flowing with milk and honey. Rashi explains this expression quite literally: Milk flows from the goats, and honey comes from the dates and figs that Israel is known for. Ramban adds that the word "flowing" is used, which indicates exceptional fertility and abundance.
On a metaphorical level, the Midrash explains that milk is a nutritional necessity whereas honey is a savory delicacy. God promises that the Land of Israel will provide not only the essential things needed to survive, but also sweet luxuries that allow us to thrive.
One such pleasure are the sweet scented flowers covering hundreds of thousands of fruit trees today throughout the Holy Land. While the fruit that these trees bear sustains both the local
population and countless others abroad to whom they are exported, their blossoms are a gift from God to adorn the apple of His eye. Please click the banner below to help Israel365 plant trees this Tu B'shvat and take part in bringing forth the glory and splendor of Eretz Yisrael.
